Shared Resource Center (SRC)

The Shared Resource Center (SRC) is a shared use facility operated by Communications and Information Technology Services (CITS) within the Department of Management Services. This facility was completed in November of 2000 and has been recognized as one of the finest facilities of its type anywhere. The SRC provides clients with the latest in security, redundancy and connectivity. We have been providing data processing services to multiple agencies for over fifty years.

Currently, the SRC supports over 85 agencies, boards, commissions and municipalities with various data processing and technology services. The facility has a vast communication network, which includes MAN, WAN, LAN, and Internet connectivity.

About the Facility

The Shared Resource Center is a single story, 29,000 sq. ft. facility with mezzanine, totally dedicated to providing safe, secure housing for data processing equipment and applications. The many safety and security features make this an ideal location for critical state applications.

· Hurricane rated to 200 MPH

· Redundant power connections

· Redundant network connections

· Redundant HVAC units

· 5000 gallon backup water supply for potable water

· Extensive security system that includes biometric access, identification system, CCTV and proximity access cards

Security

· The management and staff of the SRC consider the safety and security of client resources one of our most important responsibilities. Security procedures are in place and are reviewed regularly.

· The SRC has had security reviews by FDLE, TruSecure and the Auditor General and is recognized as one of the most secure facilities in state government.

· All cabinets within the computer room are locked when not being accessed.

· Equipment is not externally identified as to owner or application for security reasons.

· Vendors and service personnel are escorted when in the facility.

· No packages, parts, tools, or other items may be carried into the computer room without being inspected.

· Cleaning crews are not allowed in secure areas, which are cleaned by staff.

· The entire facility has a walk-thru inspection at least once every eight hours.

· No paper products are allowed on the computer floor.

Facility Stability

· The data center employ’s a full-time master electrician to assist with facility issues and assure system functionality. This person performs daily inspections of the entire facility.

· Any changes to the facility, infrastructure, equipment or operating system must be reviewed and approved by the Change Control Board (CCB) prior to the change.

· The facility has complete power redundancy, including two feeds from separate city sub-stations, redundant UPS systems, redundant diesel generators, high speed static transfer switches and a 10,000 gallon underground fuel tank.

· Communications access into the facility arrives from different directions. The conduit outside of the facility, which is part of a loop around the CCOC complex, is encased in concrete about four feet underground with a sidewalk overhead.

A centralized chilled water system provides facility cooling. This system includes multiple chilling units with backup power. In the event the central chiller plant becomes inoperable, the data center is outfitted with connections for an emergency chiller hookup.

The data center has a 5,000 gallon underground water system that would be utilized in an emergency affecting the city water system

SRC Hours of Operation

· SRC is staffed 7 X 24 X 365.
· Lobby open Mon.-Fri., 8am-5pm.
· Authorized individuals can gain entry into SRC at anytime.
