Dispatch
Dispatch operations are the responsibility of the Joint Task Force (JTF) member agencies with DMS Telecommunications and Radio Services (TRS) providing the radio infrastructure and technical assistance. Eight dispatch centers are integrated with the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS). These centers provide dispatch support and officer tracking services for entities that choose to use dispatch services. Seven dispatch centers are Regional Communications Centers (RCCs). The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) is co-located at six RCCs and operates another FWCC dispatch center. The Joint Dispatch centers are managed by the Florida Highway Patrol with facilities and equipment provided by the participating agencies.
The RCCs and the FWCC dispatch center share a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Implemented in 2003, the system uses SmartCop software. It tracks all active and closed incidents for all JTF agencies using dispatch services. The system architecture is based on operational regions but does allow for one region to handle dispatch for another region as needed. A master database is maintained of all state officers. A Geographic Information System (GIS) component provides duty officers with a graphical view of incident locations
