Newsletter for Active Members

FRS Bulletin: Once a year, the Division of Retirement distributes this newsletter to active members of the FRS Pension Plan to keep members informed of retirement legislation, benefit provisions and other retirement-related news of interest. Current issues are listed below:

Link to Fall 2011 FRS Bulletin

The Fall 2011 issue contains an article on the 2011 Retirement Legislation along with an explanation of the effects of the required employee contributions. The issue also includes articles concerning Member Annual Statements, direct deposit, benefit forfeiture and maintaining your current contact information with the Division. There is also a reminder about the current termination, reemployment and renewed membership provisions. Finally, the newsletter provides information about our Online Services and Division contact information.

The Fall 2010 issue contains an article on the 2010 Retirement Legislation and the important changes made by the 2009 Retirement Legislation. The issue also includes articles concerning Member Annual Statements, how to keep your important documents organized, information on the enhancement of our Online Services and how to get started using the many features available through our secure website environment. Finally, the newsletter provides Division contact information and a charts showing the distribution of FRS Trust Fund investments and FRS membership by employer groups.

Newsletter for Retired Members and Beneficiaries

FRS Retiree Newsletter: This newsletter is distributed to retirees and other beneficiaries of the FRS Pension Plan once or twice a year to keep them informed of retirement legislation, benefit provisions and other retirement-related news of interest. Current issues are listed below:

The Winter 2012 issue contains the 2012 benefit payment schedule and a description of the IRS 1099-R tax information forms mailed to retirees in January. Related information is provided regarding the retiree annual statement and our Online Services. There is an article with information for retirees who chose benefit Option 4. Other brief articles provide Division contact information, information on adjusting your tax withholding, and reemployment for retired members.

Link to July 2011 FRS Retiree Newsletter

The July 2011 issue contains information about the major changes made during the 2011 Legislative Session. There is also an article about the Online Services feature of our website. Reminders are included about the cost-of-living adjustment payable with your July benefit and the remaining 2011 benefit payment schedule. Other brief articles discuss reemployment for retired members, the funded status of FRS Pension Plan and tips for safer social networking. Contact information for the Division is also provided.
