Resource Development for Community Anchor Institutions
The Broadband Florida Initiative’s Resource Development Team is funded through the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) State Broadband Initiative and is housed within the Florida Department of Management Services’ (DMS). The Resource Development Team provides funding and resource development assistance to Community Anchor Institutions with the goal of expanding broadband access and use in Florida.
Between March and December 2012, the Team assisted with:
- $30,938,438 in grant applications submitted
- $4,940,328 in leveraged matching funds
- 75 community partners involved in grants

HealthCare Connect Fund Application Assistance
The HealthCare Connect Fund is a Universal Service support program for health care. This fund expands health care provider access to broadband, especially in rural areas, and encourages the creation of state and regional broadband health care networks. Access to broadband for medical providers saves lives while lowering health care costs and improving patient experiences. Our office provides:

- Application resources and training
- Project management
- Partnership development support

Education Broadband Support
Our team is working with stakeholders, policy specialists, E-Rate and other Universal Service Fund experts to develop supplemental technology funding options for Florida K-12 schools and libraries.
