Chief Information Officer - Bob Ward

Bob Ward

Bob Ward serves as Chief Information Officer for the Department of Management Services. With more than 20 years of experience in server consolidation, information and data security, and networking, as well as patent, trademark, and technology law, he has held various management positions with several technology organizations and groups. 

In his most recent position with the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners as the Director of Information Technology, he oversaw a team responsible for providing application and end user support to 500 PC users and 2,000 telephone users in 41 offices throughout the Florida Keys. In addition to managing this team, he worked to lower costs within the county government and implemented several initiatives in support of this goal. One such initiative was a system-wide network infrastructure update in preparation for a new VoIP telephone system with virtual desktop capability. Prior to his director role, he served as the county board’s Senior Administrator for Networking. 

Formerly, he served in several systems engineering and network analysis consultancy capacities. He also fulfilled the role of Business Development Manager and Contract Negotiator for a private-sector consultant group and provided a long list of professional services including virtualization and cloud computing, data management and security and IT procurement. 

Bob received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Gannon University and his Juris Doctor from the National Law Center at George Washington University, where he participated in the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. 

Bob resides in Tallahassee and is married to his wife, Jeannette. They have three children.
