Tami Fillyaw

Tami Fillyaw serves as the Director of the DMS Division of State Group Insurance. The $2 billion per year health insurance program covers approximately 360,000 employees, retirees and dependents statewide and nationally. To this role, Fillyaw brings an extensive professional background in state government, public policy, insurance and communications.

Fillyaw spent approximately 13 years at the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR), where she served in a variety of roles ranging from the Director of Communications, Executive Director of the My Safe Florida Home Program, Director of Consumer Services and Florida’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer overseeing administration and consumer services.

In her time at DFS, she became well-versed in health insurance and health care policy issues that impacted small employers, out-of-state group health plans and children’s access to coverage through the Florida Healthy Kids program. Fillyaw also spent three years with the Florida Senate as a policy analyst and communications director in the Majority Office. In addition to her state government service, Fillyaw has worked in communications for several high profile trade associations and private firms.
