Michael H. Olenick

Michael H. Olenick is vice president of Corporate Affairs and chief compliance officer for the Morganti Group, an international construction company with offices in both the U.S. and abroad.

Olenick earned his degrees from Lafayette College and Nova Southeastern School of Law. Following law school, he became an Assistant State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County and then the 19th Judicial Circuit in St. Lucie County. Olenick served as both assistant county attorney and county attorney for the Martin County Board of Commissioners. His continued his career as a partner in the law firm of Fry & Olenick, specializing in land use and real estate.

Olenick left private practice to become General Counsel and chief lobbyist for the Department of Education and the State Board of Education in Tallahassee, Fla. He was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the legal team in defense of the A+ Education Plan.

Olenick returned to private practice and became a shareholder in the Tallahassee offices of Carlton Fields, a national law firm. He specialized in administrative law and government relations and lobbied both the legislative and executive branches of government. Olenick then joined the Morganti Group.

Olenick’s public-sector service extends to his pro bono volunteer activities, including helping those impacted by domestic violence and working on legislative and clemency matters pertaining to children in adult prisons. Olenick spent three years representing Alan Crotzer before the Florida Legislature to successfully achieve compensation for his wrongful conviction after serving 24 years in the Florida prison system.

His efforts on behalf of fellow citizens have resulted in Olenick being named “Advocate of the Year” by the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence and receiving the “Pro Bono Award” from the Florida Justice Association.

Olenick was recently appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Board of Trustees of the Florida Virtual School, for which he serves as chairman.
