Implemented MyMRA Card for Employee Medical Reimbursement Accounts

Through effective project management practices, the nominees moved the State from a paper-driven medical reimbursement account (MRA) program to a flexible spending account card called “myMRA card.” Implementation of the myMRA card required the team to work collaboratively to ensure successful implementation over a short period of time. The myMRA card offers participants the convenience of electronically deducting funds from MRAs and eliminates “out-of-pocket” pay for most medical expenses. Implemented People First Mass Load File Processing

Through effective contract negotiation and project management practices, the People First team was able to require the contractor (NorthgateArinso) to develop and execute templates for mass load file processing. These templates, with the assistance of the People First team, reduced the manual processing and verification of 235,117 personnel transactions in People First by agency human resource staff resulting in a cost avoidance of $107,412. DMS-People First Contract Renegotiation Team

People First is the state’s personnel information system that contains 800,000 individual accounts and provides human resources services to approximately 240,000 active state employees and retirees. The five-member team negotiated a contract extension with the People First contractor that saves $45 million over the remaining life of the contract. People First System Upgrade Team

DMS-People First System Upgrade Team

This 19 member team negotiated upgrades to software packages that made 135 system enhancements to the state’s People First personnel system that contains 800,000 individual accounts and provides human resources services to approximately 240,000 active state employees and retirees. Improvements include an automated leave payout process, tutorial-based personnel action request process, and electronic timesheet. The estimated value of service hours provided at no cost to the state was up to $19 million. Reduced Costs for Data Warehouse Training

With the implementation of the People First, a new data warehouse was provided to state agency staff for the collection and reporting of human resource information. Agency human resource staff were in need of specific training on the data warehouse materialized views and the Impromptu software used to retrieve data from the data warehouse. The development of a customized training program and subsequent training classes gave agency staff the ability to produce custom reports to meet their individual needs. They can create reports or data extracts that identify the number of employees, the salary for a specific group of employees or positions in a specific geographic region. The ability to create custom reports gives decision makers the data they need to manage their employees, positions, and salary dollars. It allows them to respond to public records requests and other management requests for data and ultimately make decisions that affect and benefit the public. A certification of commendation was awarded to the 5 member data warehouse team.
